C.pantanalensis
Hello,
anyone here keeping Corydoras pantanalensis ?
Breeding attempt: had anyone a spawn of this rare species ? and under what condition in terms of temperature water and foos conditions ?
How important may be saisonal changing conditions for this species ? And what parameters have to be changed ?

Hi,
One can buy C.gery as well as C.panatanalensis exclusively as imports (if they are in stock)....why is that so for an easy breeding species ???
I haven't got the key up to now...as many others, who tried it....
Something like C.metae or so is easy to breed....looking at the Knaack paper....easy to breed is something different as described there
yes, I read the cat-elog....and the original Knaack-paper...lotsabettas wrote:If you look in the cat-eLog it says theyre easy to breed

I have 6 C. pantanalensis. I've had them for 6 months and keep them at 25 degrees celcius and slow/moderate current. I use rainwater, so it is fairly soft and acidic.
My males (5 of the 6 fish) have developed the stunning pattern and they seem to have little squabbles going on once in a while, but nothing alarming.
So far I've found 5 eggs one morning, but I have no idea of what could have triggered this small spawning. Besides, the eggs were not fertilised.
I'm looking forward to recieve anothe male and another female this tuesday. Hopefully, adding a coulpe of new fish will get thing going ...one should think that a sex ratio of 6 males and 2 females should be optimal.
But perhaps they are a species that do best in pairs?
