Can you help?

I ask because it's not got very distintive bands along its body like in the PlanetCatfish Gallery.

I've had it about 6 months and its very shy.
I've got bits of bogwood in the tank but I've yet to see it chew on it.

This fish is about 2-2.5" long.

I think it's . Their markings can be quite variable.

I think it is...

If you look at
Image
for example, it shows the same patterns as your fish.

P. maccus is fairly common in the trade...

There is the possibility that it is - which would grow slightly larger.
