These are Hypancistrus sp "Monte Dourado" and they have no L-no yet, their origin is Rio Jari/Brasil.

I can see why they might of said they were L260, at first glance they just look really stressed to me, I know the one I had looked stressed like that too.

Another picture with the whole fish or almost, it's hard to see in a close up pic but yours looks like a L260.
The problem with Hypancistrus sp "Monte Dourado" is that they are very variable in their pattern depending what age and size they are in.

If any of you folks is interested, I will posting an auction for 5 adult (appears to be 2f/3m on Aquabid this weekend. I'd love to see them go to a good home where they'll get lost of action!!! :)

So if anyone interest -- they are BIG (4-5" each) and HEALTHY. I have no time these days and want to do more than just feed them! To the right person, I include their favorite caves, too!

Cheers,

Sorry for the delate, Janne... I've found some pics of this fish:

Is a female, is lighter than the others L260, more golden and has "stress bars". She lives with a male L260 and I have never seen babys or mating behaviour...

When I bought her, very slim:

Now she tends to be a bit overweight:

L260 or "Monte Dourado"? :?:

Hi Janne,

out of personal interest: is there an "explanable" difference or is it an "I just see it"-kind of difference between L260 and H. sp. "Monte Dourado"?

If it is simply the fine markings: why not call it L318 or something?

Greetings, Sandor
