Adult size for Gold Nugget Plec?

Post by lawdawg18 »

Pet shop has an awesome little gold nugget plec. Is there anyway to tell if it is the Gold Nugget that grows to 6 inches, or the Gold Nugget that grows to 14inches. I think 14 would be too big for my 55 gal. For those with Gold Nugget Plecs how big did they get??

Check out this post.
L022 is not a gold nugget. It's the same thing as L001 and are sometimes known as jelly bean plecos.

my roommate is a co owner of an LFS and he has both the smaller gold nugget and the over 6" L022; to me it looks like a gold trimmed pleco, which in the book by Dr. Carl Ferraris, Jr.,entitled," Catfish in The Aquarium", the pictures are identical of the gold nugget and gold "trimmed" pleco. the gold seam pleco has smaller and more plentiful spots; the vampire pleco also has gold spots and dashes on it's skin. he is selling the larger L022 for $60 each, retail. does that sound reasonable??

That sounds kinda steep, considering you can get 2-inchers for $7 on the internet (and it's not too difficult to grow them up to 6").
