What could Ancistrus L59 from Rio Negro be?

Post by kim m »

I have seen a list from Brazil with L59 that is supposed to have been caught in Rio Negro. As far as I know this fish is not a Rio Negro fish so what can it be?

I would expect.

There are others from the Rio Negro though. You might want to look at them too. What you do, is go to the genus page for Ancistrus, and scroll down past all the thumbnails. Here you will see an embedded map. Find the Rio Negro, and hover over the coloured markers. This gives you a nice list of all the Ancistrus in the river. Three sections of the Rio Negro have species markers: lower, middle and upper.

Thanks Racoll.

I thought L183 too, but I was thinking someone might have imported some and could give me a pionter to what they had as L59 from there. I had been through all the Rio Negro Ancistrus but couldn't find any leads.
