Re: Help Breeding my L100 PLECOS
When I first started keeping them, I was using kensfish sticks. I changed over to Repashy shortly after that. They spawned with both foods, but the Repashy increased the spawn size dramatically. My female died, assuming the male injured her during the last spawn. However, spawn size increased from ~...

Re: Help Breeding my L100 PLECOS
These didn't seem much more difficult than the normal Ancistrus once the female conditioned. The trick was about a three week dry season to get them to fatten up good. After that, they would spawn with a plain tap water change. My pH runs about 8.6 most of the time, so I doubt that has anything to d...

Re: Saltwater information for sea horses
I don't have an exceptional amount of experience with saltwater, other than the tanks I used to take care of in the shop. However, if I were giving serious thought to a seahorse, I would make sure there is a well stocked refugium on the system, and make sure things like live copepods, arthropods, an...

It appears to be one male and two females, provided they are not still growing into new bristles. Males do tend to add more as they mature until they are filled in. The known male is the smaller faded fish. The other two appear to be female.

Another point being these catfish don't read our size guidelines. I have had and seen fish of several species surpass the "maximum size" guideline, and show no indication of slowing down.

Most were on mops hanging from the top to bottom. All of them I saw were in the bottom part. Others were on the glass where the mops touched it.
Edit: I will also add the eggs were smaller than most corys.

Re: What is the disease?
The heavy swelling, and red patches are both indicative of an internal bacterial infection. I'm going to assume this isn't the same tank you used the tetracycline on. If not, I would advise giving it a try. If it is the same tank, it may be necessary to go with something like erytrhomycin to clear i...

Re: Need some advice for corydoras Loxozonus
I only spawned them a couple times early last year, but they seemed to follow the same pattern as most other corys. I never pulled either eggs or breeders, so the resulting number of fry was rather low. However, there was about 60 eggs in the tank each time the colony spawned. I cannot say whether t...

Re: crab eggs and fish eggs
I don't know about feeding them to plecos, but should be alright in moderation. I used to keep the eggs from anything I caught on fishing trips to feed to my fish that evening when I got home. Most things conditioned rather well on them. My only caveat would be not to overfeed with these. Any that a...

My fish room is built entirely of similar systems, and I've only recently started using higher plants for nutrient control. I have a single red mangrove growing in each sump, floated in a piece of styrofoam, and have had a major reduction in nitrates as a result. Your design, with the sump below the...

Re: Peat moss Walstad method
I've done similar in the past with used/depleted peat from my blackwater treatment barrel. If using fresh peat, the pH swings would likely be too much for most fish to handle with even a small water change. Likewise, the bacteria will be greatly reduced due to the lower pH in the tank and you won't ...

Re: WHY L144 BLUE EYE BABY is DİE?
This is going to need more information if we're to be able to help. There are a number of parasitic and bacterial infections which will cause fish to fade and become weak or frail. Most are fairly easy to treat, but often difficult to ID on plecos due to their general anatomy.

Re: Best Fit For Pleco?
A couple of things to think about. The tannins in the wood will eventually stop buffering the water, and would need to be changed at the first sign of the pH going up. It's not impossible, but the substrate choice and holey rock both will tend to increase pH and TDS rather quickly. At the same time,...

Re: Urgent HELP !!!!!!! new pics
Definitely a bacterial infection, as mentioned earlier. However, the placement of the patches is a textbook example of fighting injuries. Once the bacteria becomes more established, it's going to be substantially more difficult to correct the problem. Dosing with antibiotics may help in the short te...

Re: sexing L052
The pics aren't perfect for sexing these, so I can't even take a guess at this point. The easiest way I found to sex them is by looking at the pelvic fins from above with all the fish side by side. Males develop elongated fins in the posterior, central part of these fins, and have an almost triangul...

Re: Otocinclus. sp. are they breeding?
This definitely sounds like breeding. IME, the eggs are normally rather difficult to find. I managed to get a couple spawns earlier this year, and lost all the fry till I decided to pull the adults and leave the plants in the tank. The few eggs I did see had an unexpected yellow color. I had assumed...

Re: ID on a new catfish
Looking at the fish settled in, it appears to be Loricaria parnahybae . All of these are rather variable, but I'm fairly sure of this one. As to sex, there is no way of easily determining any of the Loricaria without a group to make educated guesses from. The info given above holds true for fish lik...

Re: ID on a new catfish
I agree on being Loricaria, but am thinking it's actually . The fish appears to be stressed in the pics, so it may be easier to be positive if a pic can be taken once it's settled into a tank.
