Re: No need to worry about candirus
I think I will still pack my candiru proof underwear if I ever plan to go collecting where candiru are present. Just to be sure I am not a guinea pig for candiru extraction.

Re: Synodontis eupterus lifespan
I recently let my 3 year old daughter pick out 1 fish to call her own. She picked out the lone Syno Euptera. I'm assuming it's because the Euptera is the biggest in the tank. She named it Spongebob. I've had "Spongebob" since it was 2" back in 2007. Seems like when she gets old enough...

Re: Getting some new cats
Thanks so much for sharing. Congrats on the new cats. I'm about to order some Malawi Synos from Wet Spot & was hesitant. Seeing yours came through just fine makes it a bit easier to go ahead & pull the trigger.

Fishing for Shovelnose
I saw this video on another forum & didn't recall seeing anything like this here before. I apologize if I'm reposting something that has already been posted. Pretty neat fishing on the Pantanal in Brazil for Tiger Shovelnose.

Re: Concerned about my Synodontis Eupterus
I'm just wondering if you started feeding less or added some fish to the tank that are eating more food causing your Euptera to get less food. Mine has had a flat belly but it was because I was feeding less. As soon as I started feeding heavy geared more toward getting the 20 or so Synos in her tank...

Re: After Tank Cycle, Would Too Little Stock Be Problem?
Understocking is a good thing for your newly set up aquarium. As far as nitrates go, yours is fine. Under 50 ppm is ok for most freshwater fish. Drinking water is only required to have less than 10.

Re: Synodontis Euptera and Multipunctata
I've personally kept mine with both Mbunas, Peacocks & Haps from Lake Malawi and several of the smaller cichlids from Lake Tanganyika. Most of them just ignore the catfish until it comes time to breed. If you have mouthbrooding cichlids the Multipunctata (Grandiops) will interrupt their breeding...

Re: Synodontis Euptera and Multipunctata
I've kept 10 Multipunctata (Grandiops) with my Euptera in my 125 gallon tank since 2007. They get along fine. However, looking at your stocking list, I wouldn't recommend putting either species with adult Oscars. Oscars I've owned in the past would eat anything they could fit into their mouth. A 12 ...

Do you use public water? They put nasty chemicals in public water sometimes that can have adverse affects on fish.

Re: TSN fully recovered, New problem.
I experienced something similar with my Synodontis Grandiops about 6 months after I first got them. They started to turn white. In my case it was a water quality issue. A poison of some type got into the tank. More than likely an aerosol my wife sprayed around the tank :-O . I moved the fish out to ...

Re: What happens in this video?
It looks like fighting to me. My Syno Granulosa move their mouth like that when acting aggresively toward one another. The movements also match when my Grandiops fight. I would surmise that the bichir is attracted to the action in anticipation of a potential meal.

Re: What Synodontis
Synodontis euptera have a reputation for eating smaller tetras. Congo tetras should be out of danger as adults, though. Why not try Synodontis Angelica or Synodontis flavitaeniata?

Re: Catfish Convention 2012
So, I've been dying of curiousity. How did the convention go? I'm curious to know what cats were sold both in the rooms and at the auction. More specific, was it mainly South American cats or were Asian and African cats well represented?
