Hello guys, help me identify this pleco please. I would like to have it's id, mainly to know the adult size. He's growing fast, had overgrowth my l002 tiger pleco very quickly. People who saw the pics said it's an "abacaxi" "certainly", but I think they call a lot of the more common species sold in the shops here as abacaxi, without ever had saw a Hypostomus plecostomus pic.

The pleco has a very nice behaviour toward the others, but I'm worried that if he grow much will need to be out that tank.

Hi Glauce, I know what you mean. "Abacaxi" is used as a commom name for a few species of plecos here in Brasil, usualy , or other species of Pterygoplichthys. But I have seen some Hypostomus being sold as Abacaxi as well.
I think I got the same fish as you.

I was at the fish store where I bought mine. And I saw that they have the same fish in a display tank. It's 15-20 cms. Maybe this pictures can help the identification

Peixes, your fish is certainly not the same as Glauce's or the fish you found in the Display tank at your shop. Not even the same genus.

Your pleco is very likely from the genus Ancistomus. is a very good guess. Might reach 20cm or 8" at most.

is unlikely to be found in Brazil. I think this is more a species of but I have to say I am a little confused what the question is. Abacaxis is often used to describe or sometimes .
