LOL
;)
280 µS=179 ppm

if we look at the chart its tap water.
i thought they need more soft water
like 50-90 ppm for breeding

This is not really telling much about the hardness. Just about how much substance is disolved in the water.

Even really soft and acidic water can have high conductivity if there is a lot of organic waste in the water.

At least in my understanding hardness is not meassured by conductivity alone.

Many "Peckoltia" are fine with breeding in a little harder water though. With L75 being so widely spread in SA, it's no wonder at all that they are quite tolerant to water parameters.

Being so wide spread...... I think that they can handle a wide range of hardness and breed in a wide range also. So if you keep them around neutral PH and a TDS of anywhere around 100 to 200ppm they should do just fine. I am a believer in the "keeping it simple" when it comes to keeping fish. So the less you have to mess with the water the better. Now I do use RO water and mix it with my tap water....... only because my tap has a TDS of around 300ppm and they do better in a lower TDS. I don't lower the PH or add extra RO to breed my fish and they do just fine. I haven't bred the L75 (or L301's that I have) yet...... but I have had some activity with them and it will just take some time.

Best of luck with yours and hope we both get them breeding sooner rather than later,
Chuck
