Never mind; main thing is that the fishes are apparently doing fine, which I personally like very much.

Nice! What size are these Rob? They look of a sexable size - do you know the M/F ratio?

They are about 15cm

And according to the owner before the one mentioned above (= me) they are one male and four females. I bought them in Feb 2007 from Pier Aquatics.

I have been away for some time because I had little interest in the hobby. The tank collapsed during a night and I had allot of damage, nearly 1400 ltr in the living room. One of the trachelyopterussen was lying on the floor in a puddle of water and was still alive. The 5 are doing well in another tank and they have grown a lot.

It's good to hear from you again.
I'm also very pleased with the fact that you still keep the T. sp. 3 and that they are apparently doing very well.
I for one would never have expected them to grow a lot, so they must be happy at your place.
As I know you as a fine photographer, I hope you can find the time to make some new pictures of these fishes.

One specimen has grown a lot, probaly the male I guess. It's very hard to make pictures, they show themselves rarely. In the near future they are gonna move to another tank and then I'll surely make some new pictures

I was very curious so I caught one, I was surprised by the size of it....one was already 25 cm, the head was 5cm broad. There was another one who is almost that big.

Incredible! I would have sworn this was a smaller species.
It might have been a matter of food competition. They were kept with a lot of larger, less shy auchenipteirds at the time.
I see it over here with the Spinipterus sp. otorongo. With less competition, these are able to feed and thus grow.
Good job!

Thx Marc....

I lifted up a stone and there were lying two of the same size.....the other three I didn't see. Was really surprised they have grown so big. When they move to another tank I'll make pictures of all five .

Would a 1.60 x 0.60 x 0.50 tank be a good size for the 5 ?

They will soon move to a tank of their own, rocks, wood and sand and enough hiding places. I will make pictures of all five of them and measure them.
The tank is 1.60 x 0.60 x 0.50 cm

They rarely show themselves....but when they do I'm always surprised by their size and beauty. Today I also heard they can make allot of noise,,,,,
