There were some real ones imported in North America since the fall of 2012.

What's the price tag on that beauty? Looks genuine to me. The price tag will tell a lot, too.

They are longirostris. As Birger stated some came in last fall. I have two now and one acanthomias that came in mixed with the longirostris. That was the first time I had seen a live specimen. The fish in the photo look a little thin. Also, you may have a problem with the pardalis. Both species are territorial.

I have seen these but not kept at all...but I would heed Marks(corybreed) warning, most(bigger)Congo Synos can be fairly territorial and mean....combine that with the potential size of this species, eventually it will outsize your pardalis and basically it would suck to see your nice pardalis after a longirostris decides to give it a going over.

You would see longirostris at its best best in a large tank dedicated to or at least stocked to suit.

I've not kept this species with other syno species but they did ok with their own kind.

They did appear very slow growing & as far as I can tell in the uk, specimens that have been kept for a long while didn't get anywhere near the reported max size, ( topping off around 15" TL)

I am contemplating to get a 10in cat.

May I know the temperament ? How do they fair with bottom dwellers ?

Any advise ? Thanks. :)

I've only kept (many years ago) 6" specimens with brochis splendens, Pim pictus, & hoplos - all of which were fine (in 18" shop tanks)

I have kept mine(~23cm) with other larger Synodontis and Chrysichthys, so far no problems. They are at 1570l tank so I think there won't be as much aggression as in smaller tank.

My specimen is quite active and it is always the first fish begging for food, already one of my favorite species :-BD .

I've heard that they are quite aggressive towards other synos. Is it true? Is it likely to rip fin filaments of Synodontis decorus?

A gentle giant in my tank. No issue with tankmates including my 7-8inch Syno. clarias. :)

They are selling these catfish at the local Petsmart :-O .

They were sold out so I cannot tell you how big the individuals were. I also don't remember the price, but for some reason I'm thinking they were $26.99?

I don't have a tank big enough to house something like that so I would not have gotten one.

But if I DID wow that would be an amazing fish to have. Your fish is stunning and absolutely beautiful! =P~
