ID my Whiptails Pls

Post by GobyGuy »

Hello All,
I'm a long time lurker but first time poster :D I'm hoping that someone here can help me identify my whiptail catfish, one is about 8" and the other is pushing 13" before the whip on the tail.

Thanks,
GobyGuy

I would agree with the one that is 8" and pictured most. It appears that the one on the left in the second picture may be some sort of spatuloricaria, would also explain the 13" size. Any of pictures of the larger one?

They all look like to me- I found the brown can vary from beige to a dark chocolate look and everything in between in my group of 6
I can stop keeping catfish whenever I want. I just don't think I'll ever want to do that...

That size of 13" of TL just seems large to me for the Atabapo is all. Didn't think they got that large, good to learn something new! My apologies @Jools for second guessing you!

Yeah, you're right to question it as they do look a bit odd, I'd put it down to the black gravel and bright light. A picture of the mouth would clear it up quickly.

It's been a while since I've been on and as luck would have it they have bred for me.
