Where is the best place to advertise...

Post by Ryan S »

I need to clear out loads of stuff in the house (new baby forces sale  )
I've got loads of catfish books (including the big green encyclopedia from TFH) and I wondered where the best place to sell them would be. I liked the old trading section on this board - but I'm not sure how useful the new one would be as I'm in the UK.

Any recommendations?
Apart from ebay

If I may: the replacement of the Catfish wanted /for sale section. It sits under Auctions.

Regarding the previous question about selling from the UK, watermart is designed to handle any currency all you really need is a paypal account. So it's only "difficult" for selling stuff in the UK if you require payment by cheque (and who does that these days).

I've sold a few things using watermart in the UK and it works perfectly well with pounds and pence as opposed to US dollars. If there is anything else you're worried about, post here and I'll do my best to answer.

Me!

I've got a Paypal account- but I don't think people can pay me through it.

TBH I think ebay is probably better for me

Ryan,

Being a British operated site, it's really important to understand why you think that. If you have a paypal account then, just like eBay, anyone else with one (worldwide) can pay you. Can you give me your reasons for thinking eBay is better, this is because if you think the way you do (specifically on the issue of selling catfish stuff) it means one of us is missing something.

Thanks,

Jools

Well I've never used my paypal account to receive money (I thought you had to pay for an upgrade for this service?)

So basically Iâ??d be limiting my market to the UK (to receive a cheque, as this is how Iâ??ve dealt with all of my ebay sales) â?? or anyone who would send me ££!
TBH I hadnâ??t really looked at the watermart in detail â?? I just saw all the $ signs and figured it wasnâ??t for me

Goes off to look at watermart

OK, I understand. BTW, you can receive payments if you have a paypal address. However you have to build up £50 before you can withdraw for free, also paypal make their money by taking a percentage of money paid to you.

Yes, but the question was what is the best place to sell catfish books. So, given this is a catfish site, I'd still stick with my self promotion! I'm not sure what sort of traffic aquabid gets, but our front page is hit millions of times a month.
