Hassar Help
Hassar Help
I am trying to identify three different catfish all labeled as Hassar. Two are labeled Hassar orestis and one is Hassar widleri, but they all look very different. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Are these correct ID's or is something mixed up?
this was labeled H. Wilderi and is not mine... yet.
This is H. orestis that I have had for a number of years.
This is a new acquisition and was labeled H. orestis but I have reservations about that being accurate.

Re: Hassar Help
The first fish is beat up, but doesn't seem to be .
Re: Hassar Help
This fish is not at all shy, and I have quite a few nice photos of it from various angles. What would be some specific areas of the body that I could post photos of that would potentially help with a more definitive identification?
Re: Hassar Help
Also, thank you Dave for the lead on Doras phlyzakion. I had been looking at Anduzedoras oxyrhynchus but it wasn't really matching up quite right.

I am waiting for some better pictures of the first fish. The first and third fish did come from Cataclysm.

Hi all.
I did a maximum blow up on the top photo and can see what appears to me to be branching on the maxillary barbels. That would rule out Platydoras.

Yeah, your right Lee, I didn't see that. The humeral process is off too, if the colour was lighter, it would make me think of .
