Tribute to my Tandan Catfish

Post by Swiftrat »

I drew this for my recently departed Tandan. (he appears "doped out" on darker screens, so turn up your brightness to see him better)

I also made a little animated gif (in my signature below)

Hey, that's really cool! A fitting tribute. Do you have real pictures of him?

I do, but the camera was acting up the day I took the photos. The camera wasn't picking up light/dark for some reason. (I think it was cuz the batteries were nearly dead)

Mmmm... zuchinni

That's a neat fish.
is it a brackish fish or a true freshwater fish?
and what was the size?

My tandans...

Post by Swiftrat »

I believe they are mainly freshwater fish... they can grow pretty big, both my tandans measure in at about 5 inches or so. They're still little, but what upsets me the most is I got them when they were only 1" long and I'd grown them up to the 5" over the past year into that size.

How big of a tank does a fish like that need to be in for happiness at full adult length?

How lovely to read your tribute but sad as well. I have a gorgeous Tandanus which I have had for over four years now. He is a good 20cm (about 8") long but thats a guesstimate. He is such a character! I would be devastated to lose him so I can imagine how you feel.
