CHECK YOUR SPELLING BEFORE USING CLOG TAGS

Please check your spelling when using the clog tags in your posting. It lessens the work I have to do correcting errant links in posts.
It would not kill you to preview the post before hitting the submit button.

I second this, strongly, I get an email everytime one of these things doesn't work and so if one of the mods doesn't fix it, I end up with it.

Copy/pasting direct from the cat-elog page is the easiest way to avoid this if one is unsure of the spelling.

This doesn't work with sp/cf/aff species, but someone explained not too long ago (Mats, Jools?).

You need to remove "." and "space" from the first example.

If you are trying to type these rather than copy and paste them from the species page. Remember the following format:

genus+space+species identifier that will NEVER have a space in it, if it appears so, it will actually be an underscore

for example

As had been pointed out, use of preview will tell you if you've got it right 100% of the time.
