Re: Catfish Photography
Been a bit quiet from me lately. Got a new job, went on holiday, photographed some wild, marine fish for once. But I am back behind the camera with catfish in front of it now
Got to shoot the Shadow Catfish yesterday for Haakon's up coming presentation on catfish keeping (if I understood the subject correct).
Here's the result of this quite cool, little catfish

Finally had some time to photograph some more fish, and this cool species caught my eye.

The close-ups are super-cool. Thanks for posting these, I've added them to the species profile now.

Re: Catfish Photography
Finally got some proper time to do shoots! Had about 6 hours yesterday and 6 hours today, so prepare for more shots from me!
First up for yesterdays session, this elongated fella.
We landed on that this was a Giant Whiptail Catfish , but there were no labels on the tank, and thus the owner needed to do a deepdive into the archives to look it up.
Feel free to correct the ID if we're off

Re: Catfish Photography
I think the Planiloricaria might actually be Pseudohemiodon. There are a few of these from Peru. On phone at the moment, when I get to a big screen I’ll have a look unless anyone else wants to chip in with an ID?

Re: Catfish Photography
That might be, I'm still very very much a novice on catfish in general (I just enjoy the photography and species diversity ). So I get the IDs from my colleague who owns/imports the fish. I can ask for an origin of the specimen if that helps?
Also, next species up, Pictus Catfish ()

Re: Catfish Photography
Back behind the camera, with catfish in front of it!
Work and travel had me smashed out with no time for catfish photography unfortunately.
However, my good mate Haakon is heading to Ohio in a week or so to do a presentation on Apistogramma and "An Ode to Oddball Catfish" at the Ohio Cichlid Association Extravaganza.
My main reason to satrt with photographing catfish was to produce images for his presentation, and there was a few last species and individuals he wanted photos of.

Re: Catfish Photography
Another species you get to learn a bit about from my good mate Haakon at the Ohio Cichlid Association Extravaganza is this Dwarf Synodontis (Microsynodontis sp. "Nigeria")
If anyone can nail this one down to species, feel free to yell it out. I'll dig a bit and see if I can get some more info regarding this fish.

Re: Catfish Photography
Hi Halvard,
Thanks for posting the new pics. I'm sorry to be so pedantic (and I know it's a pain) but is there any chance you could flip horizontally all the Peckoltia pictures so they face the left? I'd do it myself but your logo / watermark is, in most cases, not going to look good when I flip a selection of it.
Is that OK? No rush, but the images are amongst your best....
Cheers,
Jools

Re: Catfish Photography
I've officially been bitten by the Pleco-bug. There are some true gems in the Loricariidae family, but before I get to the proper jewels I'll fling out some of the more "drab" coloured ones.
I took my time and photographed almost all the Loricariidae I was missing in my photo gallery from the pet store, so prepare yourself for a pleco-avalanche.
The Butterfly Pleco () L052
