Etymology | Cory = helmet, doras = skin. In this case it was incorrectly used to mean armour (cuirasse) instead of skin in allusion to the dual rows of plates that run along the flanks of this genus. |

Identification | Commonly referred to by the currently synonymised genus Brochis, this sub-clade can be distinguished from other corydoradine species by the fact that they have more than 10 rays in the dorsal fin, whilst all other members of the Corydoradinae have seven rays. Similar to B. sp. CW034 in that both species have pigmented spots on the head. This species differs from CW034 by having with a lower body profile and a more rounded head. |
General Remarks | Occasionally collected as by-catch with Corydoras pantanalensis; exported via Manaus. |
