|Title||Catfishes of the World Vol. 2|
|Author & (Publisher)||Dr David Sands (Dunure Publications, 1983)|
This volume deals with the family Mockokidae, which, with a few occasionally imported exceptions, means Synodontis. It is surprising though that it still remains the only publication dealing solely with this family. Many species of Synodontis have been bred using hormone injection, and several via natural methods; aside from 'zine/internet articles this information is yet to reach bookshelves.
Although published too early to include the majority of this information Catfish of the World Vol. 2 remains the most taxonomically accurate of the series as it incorporates the last major review of this genus. It also includes spawning reports of S. multipuncatatus which was big news around the time of publication and to my mind regenerated interest in breeding members of this family. Good photographs appear throughout and this book must be regarded (despite the recent Aqualog African catfish book) as offering the most information on this specific family within a single cover.
