Type Locality	Creek below Potaro Landing (5°20'N, 59°05'W), Potaro R., Essequibo, Guyana.
Pronunciation	kor ee doh rass (lineage six). - poe TAR oh en siss
Etymology	Cory = helmet, doras = skin. In this case it was incorrectly used to mean armour (cuirasse) instead of skin in allusion to the dual rows of plates that run along the flanks of this genus. Named for the Potaro River in Guyana, where this species was found.
