Breeding |
Behaviour | The spawning behaviour started after a big thunderstorm. The male stayed most of the time inside the cave and the female would sit on top or next to the cave and she slowly started to try to get in. The first 3 to 4 days the male would chaise the female out, eventually letting her in to spawn. |
Eggs | There were 70 yellow eggs laid which were 2.0mm in diameter. |
Time to hatch | 6 days Number: 10 Free swimming: 5 days |
Segregation | I removed the eggs from the cave and put them in a tumbler. The first two days they were doing fine, but then some eggs turned white, which spread through the whole cluster. I managed to somehow save some and they eventually all hatched. After 4 days in the tumbler I moved the fry to a bigger breeding box with an integrated air stone. |
