Breeding |
Behaviour | I had just returned from a weekend trip. It was late, but I went to turn the lights on in the tank to look for swordtail fry (I breed them). I had always hoped to breed these corydoras, but was not intentionally trying at this point and did not know if I would have much success because they are wild caught.
Much to my delight, I saw a bundle of eggs on an amazon sword leaf that was leaning against the glass. |
Eggs | There were 36 tan-brown eggs laid which were 0.0mm in diameter. |
Time to hatch | 0 days Number: 30 Free swimming: 30 days |
Segregation | I took a breeder net and hung it in the tank. I removed the leaf and placed it clamped in the net. I searched the tank and found another leaf with eggs on it. I did the same with it. There were about 3 dozen eggs, perhaps a half dozen were white. I carefully removed these and left the leaves in the net with an air stone.
A few days later, I moved the corydoras to a 5.5 gallon approx. 2/3 full with air stones and an air driven sponge filter and heater. |
