Down Breeding
Behaviour Fish were kept in a community aquarium for 8 months. After setting the fish up in a new 5 gallon tank about 3 weeks ago they were well conditioned and spawned 2 days after a 30% water change with cool soft water. All fish participated, both females were seen carrying eggs. Eggs were laid at the top and bottom of the tank corners, and primarily in the java moss. 31 on the glass, and 105 in the moss.
Eggs There were 136 off white eggs laid which were 1.9mm in diameter.
Segregation Eggs were collected by hand and placed in a specimen container with 2 small alder cones, moderate air stone aeration, and tank water. After 24 hours alder cones were removed and 50% water changes were done on the container daily, using breeding tank water.
