Breeding |
Behaviour | I noticed the females being receptive of the males. One night I noticed a plump female and male sharing a cave. The next morning I had noticed a change in her size. I also noticed some scratches on both fishes tail, might be part of the breeding process ( I have observed them biting eachother's tails several times, they only bite the tail of the opposite sex and only of the other from the pair (male would bite his female, but not the others).) They both actively guarded the cave from their tank mates. For my tank, they usually bred about 2 days after a large water change. |
Segregation | Kept in with parents until about 1" TL, then moved out to their own grow out tank. While in with the parents, they had the chance to eat lamprologus fry and would regularly see them eating them. At night, the cichlid fry would just sit on the bottom and the little tanganyikan hoovers would just suck them up. |

Juvenile sizes | 1 month: 0mm 3 months: 25mm 6 months: 62mm |
Fry and juvenile feeding | They would regularly get fed live brine shrimp, ken's brine shrimp flake, fry from lamprologians, freeze dried mysis and frozen mysis |
