Overview | The first spawn was on Sunday 1st of September 2019. The breeding group consisted of 1 male and 1 female. Additionally, there were 1 unknown individual present. The smallest male was at least 100mm SL and the smallest female was at least 100mm SL. The youngest adult was approximately 18 months old. The individuals were obtained from CSG Convention - Timo. |

Aquarium |
Dimensions | The aquarium dimensions were 914mm x 457mm x 305mm (36" x 18" x 12") all Length x Width x Height. |
Furniture | Sand substrate, few pieces of manzanita wood, some clay caves, and a couple anubias nana. |
Filtration | Poret mattenfilter and 4 inch poret cube filter. |
Lighting | Led strip lights, not very bright. |
Heating | Room is heated, and this is at the top of the rack, temperature stays around 28-30c. |
Breeding |
Behaviour | Pair seen on end pane of glass in the flow from the filter.
Female appeared to stretch her pectoral fins and shake, signalling the male to position above her, his ventral fins appeared to guide sperm into her mouth. 1-3 seconds later a group of 3 to 6 eggs would be laid on the glass, a few fell to the base of the aquarium.
No previous breeding behaviour observed. |
Eggs | There were 41 clear eggs laid which were 2.0mm in diameter. |
Segregation | Left parents with eggs planning to collect fallen eggs once spawning finished and put in a breeder box. |
