14 | hooliganATV since 2016-02-21 to 2019-04-29, that's 3 years, 2 months; who writes, "6" at the time of purchase. Growing out in a shallow ( 12") 55G tank. The tank has a large foot print as the dimensions are not standard. 40" long and 30" wide. After a couple of days it started tanking hairki carnivore pellets as a stable food source and it gained weight. Also feeds on prawn, small cuts of fish, frozen blood worm, frozen krill. Water temp is between 20-24 but fluctuate with the room temp. Filtration is a 1200LPH internal with a air line attached to the out put, this is positioned on one half of the tank but creates a stronger circular current in the tank. Also this provides 100% surface moment. Tank is bare bottom with a few slate tiles, rocks, small bit of drift wood with Java ferns attached and a cave position close to the out put of the filter and 90° angle from the flow. These fish seem to enjoy being able to catch food from the flow of the filter. Water permeters are ammonia 0, Nitrite 0, nitrate 5<. I do a 30-40% water change weekly and twice weekly VAC of deberry in the tank. Feeding schedule is 5 out 7 and feed in the evening. The goonch in not very active but shuffle along the bottom of the tank on its fins only really swimming when executing an attack on food items, but these fish are by no means slows.
a year of keeping, he is now in a 260G tank for the last 6 months. tank has no heating and is in a uninsulated shed in the garden. temps have been as low as 7'c. no feeding for 5 months started again now spring is here." |
