Scientific Name Hemipsilichthys mutuca  Oliveira & Oyakawa, 1999
Common Name
Type Locality Rio das Velhas drainage, Nova Lima Co., Córrego Mutuca, road from Belo Horizonte to Nova Lima, km 20, ca. 20°60'S, 43°55'W, Minas Gerais, Brazil
Etymology Greek, hemi = half + Greek, psilos = hairless + Greek, ichtys = fish.

Size 96mm or 3.8" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification Distinguished from other Hemipsilichthys species by the exposed lateral process of cleithrum above pectoral fin insertion very reduced in size, never passing the origin of the pectoral fin spine; and by the arrangement of the hypertrophied odontodes on the lateral margin of head, which are longer posteriorly and slightly turned backwards.
