| Sexing | Head margin of mature males rounded, with abundant hypertrophied odontodes extending from postrostral plates to opercle, along margin of head; pectoral-fin unbranched ray thick, curved and shorter than in females; unbranched pectoral-fin ray and first four branched rays covered dorsally by numerous, well developed odontodes. |
