Type Locality Upper Río Cauca, Bugalagrande, Colombia.
Synonym(s) Cetopsorhamdia shermani
Etymology Cetopsorhamdia: Greek, ketos = a marine monster or whale and the Brazilian vernacular name, Nhamdia/Jamdia.
