|Etymology||Neblin- is based on the Neblina camp that is the location where the type specimen was caught. -ichtys: fish. Literally "fish from Neblina". The specific epithet is from the Latin words echinus meaning sea-urchin or prickly and nasus meaning nose, in reference to the numerous odontodes that adorn males of this species.|
