| Etymology | The generic name is a combination of the greek, rhinos = nose, nostril and lekos = plate, in reference to presence of the lateronasal plate. Named after Heraldo A. Britski, Museu de Zoologia da Universidade de São Paulo, in recognition of his dedication and remarkable contributions to the studies in Hypoptopomatinae and to Neotropical Ichthyology, in general. |
