Size 81mm or 3.2" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
IdentificationThe pictures here show the range of colour this fish can exhibit. Typically it is dull charcoal black with a tinge of blue. The fish appears to belong to an undescribed genus characterised by the fused dorsal and adipose fins.
SexingMale has gill-plate and pectoral fin odontodes. Female has wider body between pectoral and ventral fins.

FeedingHerbivore wafers, rarely carnivore wafers and frozen food.
BreedingOne spawning is reported as follows:
The male guards the brood in a cave. Male was greater than 100 mm in size. Female was about 90 mm in size. The clutch had about 12 eggs. Survival of eggs/fry was poor, only 4 fry survived.
The spawn occurred in the following water parameters:
Temperature 28°C, pH: 6.0 - 7.0
NO3: < 10 mg/l
KH: <2 °dH, GH: <3 °dH
Conductivity: 210 - 240 µS/cm
