Scientific Name Heteropneustes kemratensis  (Fowler, 1937)
Common Name
Type Locality Kemrat [Kemarat], Thailand.
Etymology Heteropneustes: From the Greek heteros, meaning other and pneo, meaning to breathe; in reference to the ability of the fish to utilize atmospheric oxygen. This species is named after its type locality.

Identification Heteropneustes kemratensis can be differentiated from H.fossilis by having more anal rays.
Sexing In dorsal or ventral view especially, females are much broader in the body than males of equal age and rearing practices.
