|Scientific Name||Paramphilius teugelsi Skelton, 1989|
|Type Locality||Ruisseau affluent de Mamou (Little Scarcies River system), Guinea, west Africa, about 10°09'N, 11°50'W.|
|Etymology||From the Greek para and amphi meaning in both sides. Named for ichthyologist Dr. Guy Teugels in recognition for his contributions to the knowledge of west African freshwater fishes.|
|Size||51mm or 2" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.|
|Identification||The fishes of the genus have elongate cylindrical bodies, short deep heads and short rounded fins. Small eyes far forward, mouth broadwith fleshy lips.Long and slender barbels and caudal fin can be truncate or rounded.
Uniform dark brown dorsally, head and abdomen pale brown ventrally. Fin rays dark brown, the fin membranes clear. Has a proportionally deeper body, longer head and larger fins than other species of the genus.
|Sexing||Mature males have a bigger more swollen looking head than females.|
|Distribution||Known only from a tributary of the Mamou River, Little Scarcies River system, Fouta Djalon, Guinea, west Africa.
