Type Locality Sungei Jasin, Ulu Endau, Johor, Peninsular Malaysia.
Pronunciation HEM ee BAG russ
Etymology From the Greek hemi- meaning half and bagrus, the catfish genus.

Size 405mm or 15.9" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification Members of the genus Hemibagrus are bagrid catfishes that can attain standard lengths of up to 800 mm and are found in large rivers throughout the Indian subcontinent,Southeast and East Asia. Members of this genus have depressed heads,rugose head shields not covered by skin,a slender occipital process and moderately long adipose fins.

Distribution Asia: Peninsular Malaysia.
Other Parameters Zaid et al. (2018; Malayan Nature Journal, 70(4), 367-371) collected this species in a small stream with clear water flowing at slow to medium water currents. Water parameters were pH 6.5-6.6, DO 7.7-8.5 mg/l, Conductivity 27.2-28.2 μS/cm, and TDS 17.4-18.4 mg/L.

Furniture Zaid et al. (2018; Malayan Nature Journal, 70(4), 367-371) collected this species in a small stream flowing over a sandy bed covered with small and large rocks.
