|Etymology||Referring to the type locality of the species, Lake Bangweulu.|

In alcohol back and head brownish,sides silvery or light brownish, sometimes irregularly stained, the pectoral, dorsal and pelvic fins are often brown or black brownish, anal fin often with a dark border.
|General Remarks||It is very possible the size is much bigger than stated above.590 mm TL is also stated.|
|Distribution||Africa: Mweru system, Luapula, and Bangwelu system in Congo.|
|Feeding||As adult prefers a piscivorous diet.|
|Breeding||Oviparous, eggs are unguarded. For many species reproduction takes place during the rainy season.|
