Scientific Name Trichomycterus catamarcensis  Fernández & Vari, 2000
Common Name
Type Locality Stream tributary to Laguna Blanca, 11 kilm northeast from Belén on provincial road 43 along route from Belén to Antofagasta de la Sierra, near Los Nacimientos de San Antonio (ca. 26°30'S, 67°03'W), Depto Belén, Prov. de Catamarca, Argentina, elev. 3500 m.
Etymology Trichomycterus: From the Greek trichos, meaning hair and mykter, meaning nose; in reference to the barbels.
