Type LocalitySmall stream tributary of the rio Parnaíba, Rio Parnaíba basin, Município de Cumari, Estado de Goias, Brazil, circa 18°22’52’’S, 48°06’56’’W, elevation about 590 meters.
EtymologyTrichomycterus: From the Greek trichos, meaning hair and mykter, meaning nose; in reference to the barbels.

FeedingThis genus takes live or frozen food is well accepted, as is commerical dry prepared foods. Be careful not to overfeed. In nature, they feed on small invertebrates living at the bottom.
FurnitureIn the wild found in small streams with a sand and rock bottom with no vegetation.
