Scientific Name Trichomycterus tupinamba  Wosiacki & Oyakawa, 2005
Common Name
Type Locality Rio Betari, tributary of rio Ribeira de Iguapé, in front of the camping area of Núcleo, Parque Estadual Turisstico de Alto Ribeira, São Paulo, Brazil.
Etymology Trichomycterus: From the Greek trichos, meaning hair and mykter, meaning nose; in reference to the barbels.

Feeding This genus takes live or frozen food is well accepted, as is commerical dry prepared foods. Be careful not to overfeed. In nature, they feed on small invertebrates living at the bottom.
