Scientific Name Neoarius pectoralis  (Kailola, 2000)
Common Name
Type Locality Chapman River, Queensland, 14°56'S, 141°38'E, Australia.
Pronunciation Nee oh ar ee uss.
Etymology Neo, new (newly discovered) and arius from the Greek arios, meaning warlike or bellicose; in reference to the well-developed fin spines.

Down Habitat Information
Distribution Western Central Pacific: Irian Jaya and Australia. Probably also occurring in southern Papua New Guinea (Port Moresby to the Kempwelch River area).
