General Remarks | This Rhyacoglanis from the the upper Rio Araguaia and Rio Das Mortes was originally reported as R. pulcher when a specimen's COI gene sequence was uploaded to GenBank by E.R.M. Martinez et al. [2007. Molecular phylogeny of Pseudopimelodidae (Teleostei: Siluriformes). Submitted (SEP 2007) to the EMBL/GenBank/ DDBJ databases]. Subsequent genetic testing by J. Chuctaya et al. [2023. PLoS ONE, 18(7): e0287120] of newly collected, confirmed R. pulcher revealed that this fish is not R. pulcher, but instead may be an undescribed new species. |
