Etymology Greek, brachys, eia = short + Greek, platys = flat + Greek, stoma = mouth.

Size 1900mm or 74.8" SL. Find near, nearer or same sized spp.
Identification The only large Pimelodid with platinum head and gold body; only Brachyplatystoma with short barbels when adult.
General Remarks Fishbase lists 1920 mm TL.
