Scientific Name Acanthobunocephalus nicoi  Friel, 1995

Type Locality Río Sipapo, 200 m from Salto Remo, 4°34'N, 67°18'W, Venezuela.
Etymology Acanthobunocephalus: From the Greek akanthos, meaning spine, and bunocephalus; in reference to the rigid, locking dorsal spine.
