Re: Could I use these in my fishtank?
You should be able to use them both with no issues at all. Glass is easy, just clean it well and make sure that it does not break in the tank! The ceramic should be fine also. I use flowerpots in my tanks with no issues. I do soak them in water for a couple days before I put them in the tanks and ha...

Re: Fry Rearing Method for Angelfish
Thats for the replies, agree on the tank space for rearing fry, especially angelfish and many of the cichlids which produce large numbers of fry! The interesting thing about these videos was the jar and sponges that he uses for rearing for the first few days/weeks. I like the simplicity of this and ...

Fry Rearing Method for Angelfish
Hi All, I'm always interested in different fry boxes, egg hatching devices etc. There are lots of different methods and its always interesting to me what people have come up with. To that end I was watching this video on raising Angelfish and there are some great ideas that I thought that I would sh...

Im really interested in the fact that it was caught on an artificial lure and that it would attack that. Not something that I would ever have imagined they would do.

Hi Eric, Sorry to hear about your fish trying to make a break for it down the back of the table! I've had fish do similar things where they end up on the floor for a minute or 2 covered in dust etc. Ive found that most of them make it, although it does take them a couple days to recover. Good luck.

Re: Woodcatfish diet?
Hello
Can I ask what species of wood cat you have?
I keep 3 sp, and they seem very happy with frozen bloodworms, hikari pellets, NLS pellets, and occasional earthworms.
I have found that they will eat almost anything, but the quantity that they eat is what always amazes me!!

Hi Eric,
Those look really good and "shaking it"!!! What do you plan to feed them?
I have had no problems betting my intermedia to breed and hatch the eggs, but real issues getting the young to eat and survive the first 10 days recently. Any tips on food/water changes/temp etc etc?

I was hoping that you were going to give tips if spawning them when I read the title initially!! Sounds like you are trying all the usual things. The only thing I might suggest is multiple water changes on consecutive days. For example my T gyrina spawned after I changed 25% water daily for 3 days i...

I just played around with this and went to the neotropical database here: https://freshwaterfishdata-dev.ird.fr/geography
You can search for a sp and get collection data etc.
Interesting stuff.

Hi Eric, I had exactly the same thing with my gyrina and they just "melted" away over the next couple of days. I figured that they were unfertilized eggs. My gyrina spawned again with fertilized eggs about 4 months latter. The eggs were visibly different but they did not hatch sadly. Let m...

Sorry to see this Eric, and strongly agreed on the memory, im in the same age range as you! Its tough to loose a whole tank of fish, but im sure you will find a use for that empty tank now. My mind goes to this being something to do with your water chemistry, such as water is too hard and them not being able to hatch properly.

I really like the shoal of these that you have, never seen that many together, they will be impressive when they get older. Re: How green is your fishkeeping?
I may be wrong, but would expect the biggest environmental impact would be the collecting and flying/shipping of the fish, especially for wild fish. Once in the owners tanks there would be little apart from some water and electricity as is stated above. Makes me feel good about adding another tank!!...

Hi Eric, I have learned the same lesson as you with these Fluval breeder boxes in raising Tatia as mine used to get stuck in the foam or in the grill from the outlet. I now exclusively use the Zeiss boxes for Tatia with the inlet higher than the water level, but still use the Fluval boxes for Cory's...
