They are more delicate then all other Hypancistrus species, your aquarium is not so big just around 100 L so they can have problem with the more robust L20 to compete with food and hiding spots. You can try for a while to see how it works, I have very little experience of L20 but keep an extra eye ...

Sounds good to me! In fact, I think you could even house 2 or 3 more L066's in there, to enhance the chances of them reproducing (not sure if that's your goal, though). I mean, proposed stock, tank size and filtration all leave room for a few more pleco's, or other fish, if that's what you'd rather ...

New Hypancistrus: anyone wants to hazard a guess?
Hey all,
yesterday I went to an LFS nearby and came home with four of these small Hypancistrus (1,5-2" in size at most) - for 18,75 euro's a piece.
I alreday have an idea what species they are, but would appreciate you peeps' opinion on the matter as well. So, please go ahead and fire at will.

Keeping them alive (and prospering) is priority #1 for me, so that's good to hear. If they'd reproduce that would be grrat: if not, I could live with that...Mike_Noren wrote:Well, that temperature isn't dangerous to their health, at least.
Whether it might make them less likely to spawn is unknown to me.

Thanks a lot for the feedback, guys!
I keep them together with some 7 Bronze Cories 'Orange Stripe', 6 Marbled Hatchet Fish, three Cockatoo Dwarf Cichlids (1m/2f) and 3 L020 Polka Dot Pleco's (I think 1m/2f), so the potential for breeding is definitely there. So far nothing has happened in the tank ...

Hey all,
yesterday I found 6 small, brownish Otocinclus-like fish, and since I have a soft spot for rare fish, I could not resist (the fact the only cost 2 euro's a piece probably also played a role, though  )
I'd like to know what species they are, and how to take proper care of them (water ...

Want to confirm ID of two Pseudacanthicus
Hey all,
I just wanted to confirm the ID of these two fish:
Number one was sold as L114, but I doubt it is (looks more like "L600" to me).

Mystery Pseudacanthicus looking for true identity
Hey all,
yesterday I stumbled upon one of the best deals I have found so far: I've always wanted more Cactus Pleco's, but they are very hard to come by in my area. So to my great astonishment my favorite LFS had a gorgeous 6,5" black and greyish white spotted Pseudacanthicus in one of their tanks ...

I just came back from a 10-day vacation, during which my fish (Loricarids - including Aufwuchs-eaters like yours - , Corydoras, Apisto's and small Characins) weren't fed or looked after at all. And although I was a bit worried that I may had overplayed my hand, all the fish were perfectly fine and ...

Pseudacanthicus looking for identity
Hey everyone,
yesterday I bought myself a new pleco (almost two for that matter, but 70 euro's for a 6" Snowball was a bit too much), and I was wondering about its identity. I do have my own ideas, but I'd rather hear some suggestions from you guys too.

Thanks for your feedback, guys! :)
The fish have noticably changed in appearance (coloration, eye color) now that they have gotten more comfortable in their tank, so I figured it would be a good idea to post some additional pictures.
Do you guys still have the same opinion after seeing these pics ...

Breeding Peckoltia's and Hypancistrus is so last month... :P
Just kidding of course, but nonetheless I'd try to get off the beaten tracks, and try something that has not, or only rarely been done before - something like Oligancistrus, Lasiancistrus, Pseudolithoxus, Leporacanthicus or Baryancistrus ...

Like MatsP, I too have an L015, but mine is very secretive during the day (although he does come out when dinner is served). Just to show that fish have their own personalities, even within the same species.

Corydoras aeneus or not?
Hey all,
Last friday I bought 6 Cory's to liven up my 25g tank a little, but I'm not really sure about their identity. They were labelled Corydoras aeneus at the store (price: 2 bucks a piece), but they don't really look like the Bronze Cory's I had before. These new fish seem to be a bit darker in ...
