Re: water chem and options
Well I guess its not really that bad it just has a pH of like 8.3. I was buying RO water to mix with the tap but thats out the window because I had a baby. My reason for the interest and Q's about well water is that it will be remarkably cheaper than what is charged for city use. I pay every quarter ...

Re: water chem and options
Thank you guys for the reply. By having it thoroughly tested is that something I can do with an at home kit or take it to the lfs. The kit I have is basically what any lfs would do. What is the most important? I mean I could never exactly replicate natural water and enviroment unless I hit it big ...

water chem and options
I am hoping to get some solid info to set me in the right direction. I just recently purchased a fix-it-uper house. Its a little older. The cool thing is that it has had some moderen updates such as city water. However the well pump and access is still there and looks to be very workable, all be it ...

Re: Feeding Preditory Catfish
Great looking tank by the way. I would be very proud of that tank. The best advice I can give you is what I did when I had some single species piranha (not red bellies) like black and elongotus. They would be very picky in the same way of not wanting to eat anything that wasn't moving. But, in my ...

lucipinnis?spawning
I frequent this site almost daily to read and learn what I can. From that I have learned I have lucipinnis and not petricola based on the patterning of the spots, lol. I don't post to much but like I said read all I can. Well to the point.

Re: substrate change?
I have a L047, L-333, L066, LDA33, L-034, L092 as far as plecos. Then I have 5 apisto and a 5 inch pink tail chalceus in my 75gallon. I have did sand once or twice before it just always ends up bugging me to no end. I know it is a more natural habitat so I may just end up keeping it. It was ...

substrate change?
So I am pretty sure I want to go with gravel. In my 75gallon I have "play sand" that shows every bit of waste, it really bothers me. I do weekly water changes and the next day it looks as if I have done no maintaince at all. Plus, no matter how much I mix it up I am getting pockets of toxic gas, can ...

Re: bypassing water softner
Thank you for the response. In terms of R/O filter what are some opitions that are simple and don't break the bank. I thought house R/O units are usually pretty pricey. Do you know of any off hand? Or is there something that I could use in combination with my python and have it be worth while? If I ...

bypassing water softner
I have read a few things about not using the water softner (by-passing) in the house for water changes and maintaince. Anybody out there know the pros and cons or have experience with this? One point made was that the water introduced was in more of a "natural" state than running it through a water ...

Re: new plec ID-
Thank you very much. I didn't have my camera ready (gf had it) and I didn't want to stress the fish out to much. I have it in a quarntine tank so when I switch it over to my 75 I will snap a pic and post it. On a side note, how do I edit my species list? This is only the second forum I have joined ...

new plec ID-
I was wondering if anyone has heard of a L-315 "Camo" leopard pleco. Looks a lot like grey leopard except it has brown, yellow, black bands on the tail and dorsal. Looked up L-315 leopard pleco and it is not what I picked up today. Thanks
