Re: Pimelodus Pictus Lifespan

Nijmegen is not that far and a 4 meter tank sounds like a dream.
I don't mind taking a road trip if you would welcome them...don't worry, I won't hang about and be annoying lol

Re: Pimelodus Pictus Lifespan

I have tried several places and at the local aquarium club. The only people who seem willing to take them are people with tanks that are in my eyes too small and as much as I want to stop, I care for them too much to just put them anywhere. I will sit down and sign up to your forum tonight and give ...

Pimelodus Pictus Lifespan

I am thinking of stopping my hobby i.e. downsizing from my 152 Gallon tank. I have health issues and this big boy is too much for me to keep up with. I have been planning on stopping for 4 years now and have slowly seen my fish leave me for fishy heaven except for my 2 Pimelodus Pictus and around 50...

Re: L104 Male?

So I was right with L104 - Panaque Maccus - phew

At what age can they be sexed and could I just get a female if sexable or do I need a small group to breed?

Many thanks x

After having fallen in love and having bred loads of other fish (Apisto's, rainbows, tetras) I would love to give Pleco's a try and what better way than to start with the one I have  Panaque Maccus who I suspect is a male http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v707/Cutsie1/IMG_1345-1.jpg http:/...

Re: Some friends or other species? & Which wood?

Thank you very much Richard for taking the time... I have redmoor & savannah wood and just now added some pieces of mopani for the little guy at the back of the tank so he should have enough choice  Now to get him to stop eating my Hemianthus Carpeting in the tank which he seems to prefer ...

Re: Some friends or other species? & Which wood?

Thank you so much for the replies... I was worried about aggression having the same kind and the mountains of poop they would produce LOL But in hindsight it is the nicest idea... will get another 2 and hope they are not all the same sex  Anyone any ideas on the wood? Are they ok with Moor ...

Some friends or other species? & Which wood?

Hi Catlovers, I was lucky enough to receive a surprise free fish in plants bought at the LFS which brought me to this great site... after having posted foto's of the little guy on here you were all helpful enough to let me know it was a Panaque Maccus. I have completely fallen in love with the littl...

Re: Am I a L104?

I have never seen the little guy eat any wood or even sit on it at all...he seems to be very keen on the algae on the backing wall and stones.. I have even put zuchinni in twice which he left untouched. Thanks for the tip though..will extra check the tank when cleaning this weekend.

Re: Am I a L104?

I agree he does not look too healthy but these foto's were taken 5 minutes after it being released into the tank and before that it was wrapped up and bagged with some plants for about 1 hour and hardly any water.... there are 5 big pieces of wood in the tank (3 different types) so I hope he/she pic...

Re: Am I a L104?

Wow confusing... different answers LOL Maybe when he/she fattens up a bit it will be easier  As long as it is not a L169 seeing the size it can get   Even though it is in a 600 Liter tank I think even that maybe too small for a L169. From the answers I can see that every agree's ...
