He could get anything upto 18 inches,Are the dimensions for your tank in inches or CM ?

A decent size tank for starters,But no not very hard to keep.

I have a golden nugget that does'nt seem to be growing at all he seems fine happy and healthy and eats plenty but has not gained any length since i purchased him.
He is about 2/3 inches long and was thinking this maybe his supposed size but have read many posts saying that they get alot ...

My golden nugget has caves but prefers to hang upside down under bogwood.

Take a look at the Hyalobagrus flavus if you can find them in your LFS these guys really are beutiful.

You could also add hikari carnivore pellets to their diet

Did you notice the fish scratching on gravel and ornaments ?
This to me would have suggested flukes.Temp is still a little high i recon.

Try conditioning the fish first with bloodworms and algae wafers,This may help

Same here i have kept upto 11 oto's with cichlids and never witnessed this......

Off the top of my head your tank with gravel,ornaments ect should be around 40 gallons,Has a general rule of thumb you can have an inch of fish per gallon.
I would go for around 35/36 inches of fish,Of course this does'nt apply to one 36 inch fish!

I see tank's full of these for sale as "golden sucking loach" ,A friend of mine had two of them,Nasty little things they were

Oto's love algae wafers and lettuce IMO,All my oto's are well fed and show this,Oto's will spend ages rasping on algae wafers if other fish allow this.

It's probably the ammount of fish in your tank

Yup i would rinse the carbon first......

PVC tubes are fine to use as caves,Make sure they are clean and big enough to house the fish intended for before adding to the tank.
