PlanetCatfish has the largest range. I'm guessing that the warmer end would be ok, but be sure you have good oxygenation.

Re: Ancistrus type 'show' plec
Yes, the flash L204 would do well in the tank. The problem with most plecos (showstopper or not) is that they like to hide. So gorgeous pleco (L46 zebra) but hides in a cave all day. I have several L204s, and they do hide, but they are fairly visible since I have 4, and they are always quarreling wi...

I meant that generally pseudas are less prone to being bullied than scobys.Jools wrote:It depends what you mean by tough, if you mean hardy then I don't see much difference. I overlooked them because they're roughly not as big but they'd work too.

Re: Plec's for Large Cichlid Tank?
Pterygoplichthys are your best bet. Followed by Hypostomus and Scobinancistrus . They will need cover and a lot of attention to settle them but will certainly be able to hold their own. Also consider larger Doradidae . Jools Why Scobys? Though large, I thought they weren't as aggressive/tough as Ps...

Maybe it got bloat? Too much meaty food? I throw in zuchinni for my ottos, and my L114/600 will snack on them. I feed mine mainly xtreme scraper wafer.

Another option are rummy nose tetras. Some zebra Pleco breeders use them as indicators of water quality.

Increase temp to 84, add extra aeration (airstone), keep the tank dark (and maybe a little salt). No chemicals.

Re: L600 growth rate
For the first couple of years, slow growth rate; once they get to about 3 inches, they will experience another growth spurt (at least for L114). I have L600 from Jim K from the 2012 Catfish convention. They are about 2.5"-3" inches, so will see if they experience a growth spurt soon (like ...

I believe it has more beta carotene then zuchinni, so if you're trying to enhance the red/orange colors (like superreds), it would be good to add it to your feeding regime.

Another possible benefit of a system: someone posited that breeding plecs (like ancistrus) may emit breeding pheremones that could help instigate other "tougher to spawn" plecos to breed.

Re: REPASHY, i keep seeing this pop up
A big advantage of Repashy is you can add other stuff in to it (freeze dried bloodworms, etc) Interesting idea re: freeze-dried bloodworms. Do you chop the freeze-dried bloodworms up before adding it to your batch of Repashy? You can if you want; definitely if you're trying to feed smaller fish. Ad...

A big advantage of Repashy is you can add other stuff in to it (freeze dried bloodworms, etc), namely medicine. Some meds are more effective if consumed (assuming fish are trained to eat Repashy).

If you're worried about pleco aggressiveness towards discus, I'd go with L14.
L114/600 are cheaper if that's a consideration.

Re: Which Pleco?
I have L204 with my discus. You'll want wood for L204. And they stay small.
Another option is L134 (be sure not to feed beef heart too often; not good for L134).
