I came over this fish on a German board and was asked if I knew what kind of fish this is. I didn't, so here it is:

To compare with a 5 inch which just started to turn over in color not shown in picture.
Greggo, are they becoming the same color as Granulosus exept for the with on the fins? I'm keeping these two in the same tank and they seem to like eachother.

It's a Polypterus (a.k.a. Bichir).

Thanks for the replies, now I know which fish it is. I need to find a new home for him because I've no tank I can keep it in. I have several large tanks but in all of them are only tanganyika fish.
The small tank it's in now is too small and also occupied by other fish I would like to keep.

When I look at this pic I see an adipose fin but my fish doesn't have that, so I presume it's not the same.

Has anyone experience in keeping S. Dhonti and what do you feed them?
I have 5 of them for 6 months now, one is aprox. 15 cm the others 12 cm and at this moment they are swimming in a tank (720 liter) with Tropheus and are living of Spirulina.
In a few months I want to place them in another ...

It is indeed probably because they are still young. You might try it with algae wafers or spirulina tabs on the open space in your aquarium. Our Syno's love them and at feeding time they come in sight searching for the tabs, but they have to get used to them.

Thanks a lot guys, I feel better all ready . Now it seem to be Dhonti, I'm able to keep it in my biggest (2.00m x 0.60m x 0.60m) aquarium and let it grow to her adult size.

Erwin what do you mean by We don't know yet if they appear in color morphs, what I'm suggesting for S.dhonti, or in restricted local races, like S.petricola.
